How to Edit Text in a PDF
- Open the PDF. Drop the file onto the editor or click to browse. Every page appears in the workspace.
- Pick Edit Existing Text (the text-cursor icon). Blue outlines appear around each line you can change.
- Click the line you want to fix. It opens as an editable box with the same wording, size and a matching font and colour. Type your correction.
- Add anything else you need. Use Add Text for new lines, Highlight, Draw, Shapes, Line/Arrow or Insert Image. Drag a box to move it, use the corners to resize, and the round handle to rotate.
- Export. Choose an output quality, then download the edited PDF.
Working on a phone? The tool options sit in a strip under the toolbar, and the … menu holds page actions and export.
Why Use This PDF Editor
- Nothing leaves your device. Editing and export run in your browser, so contracts, forms and IDs are never uploaded to a server.
- Change text that's already in the PDF. Click a line, retype it. The tool covers the old line with the page's background colour and places your text on top in a similar font, size and colour.
- 22 fonts. Classic picks like Arial and Times New Roman, Word-style Calibri, Cambria and Garamond, popular web fonts such as Roboto and Montserrat, and Cairo, Tajawal and Noto Naskh for Arabic.
- Text stays real. Your original PDF is kept and text you add is saved as selectable, searchable text, not a flattened picture of the page.
- Draw, highlight, shapes, arrows, images. Set colours, borders, fill and opacity, and rotate any item.
- Undo and redo, no watermark. Experiment freely, then export a clean file.
- Works on phones and tablets. Touch-friendly handles and a dedicated options strip.
FAQ
Can I edit the existing text in a PDF here?
Yes, line by line. Choose Edit Existing Text, click a line, and retype it. The original line is covered and your new text is placed on top. It works best on plain backgrounds, and the original words are covered rather than deleted from the file.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Not on its own. A scan is a picture, so there are no text lines to pick. Run it through the free OCR tool first to turn the pages into searchable text, then edit.
Is it safe to edit confidential documents?
Yes. The file is opened and edited in your browser and never uploaded. The editor only downloads its own fonts from PDFfans so your text matches.
Will the formatting of my PDF change?
The pages stay as they were. Only the lines you change and the items you add are affected. Changing a line replaces it with your text in a similar font, so very unusual fonts may look slightly different.
Can I use this to permanently remove sensitive information?
No. Covering or replacing text hides it on the page, but the original can still be in the file. For removing information, use the Redact PDF tool.
Does it support Arabic text?
Yes, you can type Arabic in Cairo, Tajawal or Noto Naskh Arabic. In the exported file, Arabic text is placed as an image so the letters keep their shape, so it won't be searchable.
Can I edit on my phone?
Yes. Pick a tool, adjust it in the options strip under the toolbar, and use the … menu for page actions and export.
