Good to know: Base64 text is about a third larger than the PDF, and the tool shows the exact figure. Very large PDFs make a very long string that can slow down the page. If you plan to use a data URL in code, keep Line Wrapping on No wrapping, because line breaks inside a data URL break it. To turn a string back into a file, use Base64 to PDF.
Drop your PDF onto the tool, choose an output format and line wrapping, then click Convert to Base64. Copy the result or save it as a .txt file.
Raw Base64 is only the encoded characters. A data URL adds the prefix data:application/pdf;base64, so a browser can use it directly, for example as an embed or link target.
Base64 turns every 3 bytes into 4 characters, so the text is roughly 33 percent larger than the file. The tool shows the exact increase for your PDF.
Only if the system you are sending it to needs line-broken text. For JSON fields, API calls and data URLs, keep No wrapping (single line).
No. The encoding is processed in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device.
Your file size limit is shown on this page, and a free account raises it.
No account. No upload queues. No fine print. Just pick a tool and you're done.
