You paste a PDF into an AI chat and get a wall of broken lines: headings flattened, tables smeared into one row, page numbers stuck in the middle of sentences. Markdown avoids that, because AI tools, note apps and documentation sites all read it natively. This converter rebuilds headings, lists, tables, bold, italic and links from the layout of your PDF, drops repeated headers and footers, and hands you a clean .md file. Your file stays on your device.

Good to know: this tool reads the text already inside the PDF. A scan or a photo saved as a PDF has no text to read, and there is no OCR here. The structure is inferred from how the page looks, so it is a strong first draft rather than a perfect copy. Images are not included, password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first, and right-to-left scripts such as Arabic have not been tested, so check those results with care.
Drop the PDF onto the tool and click Convert to Markdown. The result appears in a text box you can copy, or you can download it as a .md file.
No. Your file stays on your device. The text is read by code running in your browser tab, so the document never travels anywhere.
The PDF is probably a scan or a photo of a page. Those files hold pictures of words, not the words themselves, and this tool has no OCR. Run the file through OCR first, then convert the result.
Not always. Headings are guessed from font size and bold text, and tables are guessed from how text lines up in columns. Clean, text-based documents come out well. Dense layouts, forms and academic papers may need a quick tidy, so skim the preview before you rely on it.
No. The output is text only. Images, drawings and formulas drawn as graphics are left out.
Files up to 50 MB work without an account; a free account raises the limit.
No account. No upload queues. No fine print. Just pick a tool and you're done.
