How to Sign a PDF

1. Drop your PDF onto the tool, or click Choose PDF File.
2. Create your signature in one of three tabs. In Draw, sign with your mouse or finger and pick a pen color and size. In Type, enter your name or initials and choose a style such as Script, Round, Elegant or Formal, or open More Google Fonts. In Image, upload a PNG or JPG of your signature. Then click Use This Signature.
3. Click on the page where it should go. Use Prev and Next to change pages. You can place the signature more than once, on one page or on several.
4. Adjust each signature. Drag it to move it and drag the corner handle to resize it. These two need a mouse. The small x removes one, and Clear Page removes every signature on the current page.
5. Choose Render Scale and Output Quality, then click Export Signed PDF. The file is saved with _signed added to the name.

How do I sign a PDF online?

Is this a legally binding or certificate-based digital signature?

No. It places a picture of your signature on the page. There is no certificate, no verified identity and no timestamp, and the file is not protected against later edits. Whether a visible signature is accepted depends on who asks for it, so check with them. If they need a certificate-based signature, use a provider that issues one.

Can I type my name instead of drawing it?

Yes. Open the Type tab, enter your name or initials, and choose a font style. The preview updates as you type.

Can I sign more than one page, or sign more than once?

Yes. Go to any page with Prev and Next and click to place another copy of the signature. Each placed signature can be moved, resized or removed.

Will the text in my PDF still be selectable after signing?

No. The export redraws each page as an image, so text can no longer be selected, searched or copied, and links stop working. Keep your original file for those uses.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere, and is there a size limit?

No, the PDF stays on your device while it is processed in your browser. Typed signatures use fonts loaded from Google Fonts, which is a request for the font only. Your file size limit is shown on this page, and a free account raises it.
